Balance
Balance is what percent of your sport?
Great athletes make their athletic skills and sport look easy, effortless and automatic. Balance is the single most important component of athletic ability, due to the fact that it underlies all movement! Our balance is primarily determined by these elements working together:
- vision
- the inner ear
- proprioception or neuromuscular reflex
Training on balance products, which are challenging to stand on, develops these three key elements and strengthens muscles, tendons and ligaments. Several muscle groups strengthened are stabilizers, neutralizers and decelerators.
Developing these muscle groups:
- Enhances performance.
- Prevents injuries by strengthening and protecting joints.
- Enables quicker injury recovery time, if injured, because injuries are less severe.
All movement is a series of balance to imbalance to balance transitions. Changing your center of gravity to match your moves is the key to efficiency. In sport this technical term is called agility. Combining athleticism with balance is critical to having your body process more information than normal, and being able to stabilize itself at the same time.
