"The Athleticism program is put together so well that within two weeks I could already see a difference in my strength, flexibility, speed and my overall fitness level. I have been to many different trainers and programs throughout my athletic career, and I can say without hesitation that Athleticism has given me the best results."
Lisa O'Kane - Soccer & Lacrosse - University of Redlands

speed

How do we get faster?

Several ways to develop speed include, emphasizing dynamic strength, speed drills, plyometric drills, neuro-muscular training and interval conditioning. Early development of faster twitch, type II muscle fibers is a main component of speed. The best way to build and maintain these fast twitch fibers is through dynamic speed drills and interval training. Running, skipping, jumping, shuffling and bounding develop power in ones legs. The faster and more dynamic the drills, greater improvements will be made. More powerful legs gives you a greater push off with a longer stride. The quicker turn over with longer stride will enable you to run faster. The development of strong hip flexors and hamstrings are key components to fast running. The combination of speed drills, speed drills with resistance and training on a high-speed treadmill is very comprehensive.

Your knees and elbows are your motors. Always keep them moving in a very efficient manner with a big range of motion. Get those elbows up behind the body and this will help with an opposite reaction of a powerful knee drive. Every motion must be streamlined and directed straight ahead.

Remember the old joke... How do we get fast? We eat fast food!!!
